Dr. Ghazal Mir Zulfiqar, Director PhD Program at Suleman Dawood School of Business - LUMS, organized a talk by Dr. Peter Lund-Thomsen titled “What is Behind the Label? Ethics and Cultural Challenges in Fieldwork”. Dr. Thomsen is a Professor of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability in Developing Countries at the Copenhagen Business School. Dr. Thomsen’s research focuses on sustainable value chains, industrial clusters, and corporate social responsibility with a regional focus on South Asia. He has published in Business and Society, Global Networks, Geoforum, Journal of Business Ethics, Development and Change, and Journal of Economic Geography. He is also co-editor of the forthcoming Routledge anthology, “Business and Development Studies: Issues and Perspectives” (with Hansen and Lindgreen). Currently, he serves as Associate Editor at the Journal Competition and Change (Sage Publications). Dr. Syed Zahoor Hassan, Professor SDSB, SDSB PhD candidates and the CBS team attended the talk. Dr. Thomsen discussed changing global production trends and their implications for South Asian countries including Pakistan. This discussion was followed by an interactive session where Dr. Thomsen and the PhD candidates discussed ethics and cultural challenges associated with primary research and fieldwork.
