 This policy note reviews the context and and anti-corruption policies in Pakistan. Loopholes identified in the formulation and implementation of anti-corruption laws will provide direction to decision makers, politicians, researchers, activists and media persons and other stakeholders towards addressing the issues that need immediate attention.

Short Summary:

Corruption is a global phenomenon which weakens governance, public institutions and quality of services. In Pakistan, politicians and government officials, among others, have been accused of corruption for past several decades. As part of Pakistan’s anti-corruption regime, numerous laws and policies have been formulated to address corruption. However, due to issues of design and enforcement, these laws have not been very effectual in practice. This policy note reviews the context and and anti-corruption policies in Pakistan. Loopholes identified in the formulation and implementation of anti-corruption laws will provide direction to decision makers, politicians, researchers, activists and media persons and other stakeholders towards addressing the issues that need immediate attention.
