Centre for Business and Society (CBS) at LUMS successfully concluded “EduLink: Linking Students to Digital Skills and Knowledge”, a five-day immersive digital skills workshop that spanned from August 18-22, 2025. Understanding the growing need for digital skills, this programme was designed to equip young students from underserved communities with the tools they need to thrive in today’s digital age.

In its inaugural cycle held in SDSB-LUMS, 67 students from two low-cost public schools in Lahore (Jinnah Public High School and Tauqeer Foundation & Girls High School) participated along with 14 Student Coaches, onboarded by CBS from across LUMS, to embark on a transformative learning journey. The workshop blended technical training with mentorship, enabling meaningful peer-to-peer learning between LUMS student coaches and school participants. In its reciprocal learning framework, the school students were grouped with LUMS coaches to ensure effective one-on-one training.

Over the course of five days, the student beneficiaries were given in-depth sessions led by IST-LUMS and LUMS Student Coaches on the following:

Safe Internet Navigation: This session featured tips on how to browse and surf the internet safely and ethically

Creating Email Addresses: Importance of personal email addresses academically and professionally. The student participants created their individual email IDs

Microsoft Office Skills: Sessions on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint featured key fundamental tools. The students prepared documents, spreadsheets and presentations based on their own individual stories

Resume Building: Creating individual documents for future educational and employment avenues.

The impact was immediate and visible: students who had never before engaged with digital platforms left empowered with practical skills and renewed confidence. For many, opening an email account, using Microsoft Office and drafting their first resume was a milestone moment.

At CBS-LUMS, we believe that bridging the digital divide is not just about technology, it is about creating accessible and inclusive opportunities for education and digital skills. “EduLink” reflects this vision by creating access where it is most needed, ensuring that young learners from low-cost schools in Pakistan are not left behind in an increasingly digital world.

Through EduLink, CBS-LUMS continues its commitment to mobilizing university-wide resources to create equitable opportunities for underserved communities under its effort towards SDG 4: Quality Education for All.

Together, we are building bridges of knowledge, skills, opportunity, and hope
