As a part of the RASTA (Research for Social Transformation and Advancement) grant funded by PIDE (Pakistan Institute of Development Economics), CBS organised a Roundtable Session titled “Digital Enablement of Microentrepreneurs in Pakistan”. The session held in a hybrid modality took place on Friday, June 12, 2024, in SDSB-LUMS.
The primary aim of this hybrid roundtable discussion was to engage with a diverse set of stakeholders to understand and learn from their unique experiences in the landscape of women entrepreneurship in Pakistan. The expert panel of participants included individuals from renown organisations such as TDAP, Kashf Foundation, Bali Memorial Trust, Kaarvan Crafts Foundation, Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry Multan Division among others.
The discussion identified the specific challenges faced by women micro-entrepreneurs in adopting digital tools and platforms. The experts also proposed strategies that can help empower women entrepreneurs to thrive in the digital age such as enabling digital wallets through their bank accounts for more effective payment systems, creating their digital footprint on social media to minimize the geographic divide and to expand their clientele demographics.
